Key explainer articles, scientific studies, and additional resources for implementing a workplace rapid screening program.
This Playbook is intended for organizations conducting rapid antigen, point-of-care screening (herein referred to as rapid antigen screening) in Canada. This guidance provides basic information only. It does not take the place of medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or legal advice.
Rapid antigen testing is used for screening purposes only and should NOT be used for diagnosis of COVID-19 infection or any other illness. Rapid antigen testing or screening does not prevent someone from getting COVID-19.
Rapid antigen screening can be thought of as a screening tool and does not replace public health measures such as symptom screening, physical distancing, masking, hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette. It also does not replace requirements to protect the health and safety of workers.
Any positive results from rapid antigen screening must be confirmed with laboratory-based testing.
Anyone who falls within the current Provincial testing guidance should continue to seek testing at available participating pharmacies, participating licensed community labs, and assessment centres.
In the event of any conflict between this guidance Playbook and any applicable legislation or orders or directives issued by Federal or Provincial health authorities, the legislation, order or directive prevails.
